Tips for Using the Deckbuilder in GCCG
« on: March 27, 2010, 06:40:48 PM »
Hey, I just got GCCG running on Windows and Linux, but can't figure out how to build decks. I saw that I can open a new deck and can look at my "collection" (no cards in there), adding with "middle click" but this seems pretty awkward. Are there better ways to do this?

I saw some txt files for sealed decks; can I build a deck in a txt editor?

I use the deck building options in GCCG.

/newdeck

That will open up what looks like a little Steno Pad. You can add and subtract cards, and then right click up top to "Check Legality" based on the block you are playing.

Also, this should probably be in the Green Dragon Inn section. And by "should probably be in," I mean, "should be in."

You can always use Zobrec's Deckbuilder.

I have SDA, but that seems to be unavailable nowadays. Do you really use the deckbuilder in GCCG Ket? It seems so omslachtig (a lot of work and pointless to do) and annoying to do.

BTW, it should be made possible to convert decks from LotrO to GCCG

I use GCCG's deckbuilder because I don't like having to mess around with extra programs if I can avoid it.  I've never used any other deckbuilder, so maybe I don't know what I missing.  Works fine for me.

Seeing as I am relatively familiar with the cards in Movie Block, I tend to know what I want and don't want in the decks that I build. So it just comes down to "search for the card" rather than anything else.

Anyways, I have my card list filtered to just show cards in Movie Block. I also have a filter set up so it will just show rares, promos, and premiums in movie block. These things make it convenient as well.

Other GCCG tips:

You can right-click the title to get filtering options (for example, filter by culture, and tabs shows Minions/Possessions/Conditions/Events/etc).

You can find any card with:
/find card

There are a LOT of filtering options available but they require the use of some computer logic, etc. I used to have a filter that did something like:

"Show all rare cards that I have more than 4 of if I am selling them and someone has undercut my selling price."

I don't have GCCG atm but I think the command for the likes of that is /select. Try /help select. Then you can save the display for future use.

...

Even so, Zorbec's is miles better. Save decks in GCCG\decks\LotR and Import.
