Howdy. After reading the Gil-galad / Tentacle Bomb thread here: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,2286.0.html, I purchased copies of Plotting and So Polite

Unfortunately, I don't understand the strategy because I don't understand the game text of Plotting:

Game Text: To play, spot Gollum and add up to 9 threats. Gollum is strength +2. Discard this condition and remove 9 threats at the start of the regroup phase.

It's very expensive to play, so I'm wondering if I *must* discard the condition at the start of the regroup phase, or is that part optional?  I'm not really sure why you'd want to remove all those threats anyways, but I'd rather keep them around to generate more twilight with So Polite.  So is that how it's done?

Thanks in advance.

You actually must remove the threats and discard Plotting, otherwise, Plotting would be horribly stron g. You can combine this with one of my favorite Gollums, namely Threatening Guide which fits in the strategy perfectly.
IN general, the aim of Plotting is to kill a comp on the site you're playing it so that the threats resolve and kill even more companions

Yes, you must discard Plotting and the threats.

The idea is that you play Plotting when you think you have the best chance to kill a companion as it guarantees maximum threat damage.

the idea in that thread of Plotting and so polite is that if they have a large fellowship, you can play plotting and the watcher, then play gollum over and over with multiple so polite to generate lots of twilight (the watcher discards gollum)

Thanks to all.  That helps.   I guess that makes me a munchkin for even entertaining such thoughts...

How do you get rid of the watcher so you can have other minions? Or do you only do this at an actual marsh (instead of using Evil-Smelling Fens), so the Watcher will be discarded if the Free Peoples player moves on, leaving you with a lot of twilight to use for minions and thereby encouraging the Free Peoples player to stop.

The deck swarms with tentacles--tentacles aren't discarded by the Watcher.

Ah, I was under the impression that you just threw the watcher into a normal gollum deck in case of large fellowships; I didn't realize that the watcher was a major part of the deck. Thanks!
