Tanks
« on: April 09, 2010, 07:26:39 PM »
so, i've built a good number of wounding decks, and thanks to ket, 1 of them is half-way decent.  regardless, i've noticed wounds or no wounds, when a minion survives to the skirmish phase, i get creamed.  soooo, i've decided to build a tank deck.  i'm not asking for deck lists.  i'm asking what companions work well in tank decks?  what strategies?  my own thought is to pick 4-5 solid comps and load the deck with skirmish and healing events.  please instruct and guide me.  again, i'm not looking for deck lists, but if you feel inclinded to do so, so be it.  ps: i like rainbow decks

ents are the definition of tank decks, use gandalf, treebeard, lindenroot, and ent horde, pack ent draught, have patience, roused, enraged, all save one, maybe add a bouncing hobbit, (pippin, wobas) and ent moot, DiT for conditions, RoT for possessions, glamdring/shadowfax wizard staff, servant of the secret fire, etc...

Durin is probably the biggest Tank you can get and he is damage +alot unlike Ents so minions won't survive the skirmish phase.

Elendil and his fellow [Gondor] Men with Noble Leaders are also pretty nice to clean the table.

i like those ideas, that will give me something to work off of.  Thanks.  So, I haven't finalized it yet, but I was thinking gorn sigs with light the beacons.  I was thinking of using grey pilgram or leader of men.  Of course sevant of the secret fire would be in their and if their gorn sigs I can use hard choice and no mere ranger as well.  Right now the comps I'm thinking of using are KiE, LoG, LoM / GP, and one other.

for Light the Beacons (7R43) and gorn sings i would start with gandy and denethor, both gorn sings and KiE to heal them.

or •Gandalf, The White Wizard (4C90) and Light the Beacons (7R43) combo. +3 to gondor and you have 3 twilight tokens to spot for +3 gandy

that is a clever idea, that way gandalf is also str +3.  Clever indeed, however, I would have to replace hard choice with have patience.  I'm not opposed to that, but boy 3 twilight is quiet a bit more than 1...
