Hello all!

I knew about this TCG for a while but never had the money as a kid to actually get get down and afford to buy these cards en masse. My friend and I got a starter deck each and played, and really enjoyed the game but couldn't go anywhere. We are trying to get back into the game again, and we were wondering where to get cards for the best prices and what sets we should be aiming to get cards from. It would be nice to get a couple of rares, but we are not looking for the best of the best which obviously costs a lot of money. So far I have been looking at ebay and have found some sets that offer ~2k cards for ~70 bucks after shipping and was wondering if this is the best I am going to get, or if I could find something here. (Though most posts here seem about collecting, especially from the later sets).

Well anyway, Thanks!

Sets 11-13 are the cheapest to buy, but it seems that most players prefer sets 1-8+10 (movie block). Some of these sets are now out of print, but occasionally fulls sets come up on Ebay for reasonable prices, especially if you live in USA.

Sets 3, and 8 are out-of-print and I am sure there are others.

Stay away from sets 15 and on - they cost too much and many players feel they are not overly balanced.. As for that sets 11-13 starters seem to have errors as well - four of us played a sealed deck a while back and each of us had missing Frodo's, Rings or Sites.

You can also play for free using GCCG - it gives you access to every card printed and you can play anyone all over the world.

2000 cards for $70 seems like pretty good value.

As far as I know Decipher has not printed ANY sets for a long time.

Wow I didn't know about GCCG :D. I would still like to get physical cards because of the feel but this is definitely a good way to play online with my friends and test some things out.
