Merry, Learned Guide.
« on: July 18, 2008, 11:55:26 AM »
When you discard Merry, Learned Guide does that end his skirmish?
Time
What know we of this despondent thing
No sign no sound no tranquil ring
We try to tell its quantity
yet fail to see the point
Only one can know of it
to this eternal joint
We have not power in Use
To hold this creature bay
But only wait for it to change
Inside the soul of it we lay

Oh yea, and i have another question.
Desert Fighter says that at the start of each skirmish involving this minion, you may remove (1) to add a threat. Does that mean you can keep doing this until you run out of twilight?

No, it's "At the start of each skirmish." So at the start of each skirmish involving him (including fierce), you may add a threat if you have the amount of twilight to do so.

Okay, I'm really sorry to keep bothering you but i have one more q.
when a card says that you can do something in the regroup phase if you move twice that turn can you do it?
I've heard that in the new rules you skip the regroup phase and the fellowship phase when you move twice.

Nope. There is ALWAYS a regroup phase except at Site 9 (when the Ring-bearer merely has to survive until the end of all skirmishes). It is during the regroup phase when you decide whether or not to move again...and if you do, that ends the regroup phase. But it doesn't skip it.

However, if you DO move during the regroup phase, the fellowship phase IS skipped and you go straight to Shadow phase(S). Only when you stay do you get to return to the fellowship phase (on your next turn).
Best regards,
Dáin

Unless you're playing Tower block and someone slaps down Caverns of Isengard as their site 9, but good luck running into that situation.

One other note about Learned Guide is that if he skirmishes a fierce minion in the first skirmish, the minion still gets to skirmish the fierce phase.
There are only 10 kinds of people in the world.  Those who know binary and those who don't.
You don't have a backpack. What you have there is an invisible leather TARDIS.

Unless you discard him while it's not his skirmish.
