Turbine's LOTRO Goes Free...
« on: June 13, 2010, 06:21:42 AM »
Was kinda exploring a little bit and ran across this...
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that Turbine, Inc. will unveil a major update this fall

Any thoughts on this? I did notice that the basic version is free but will end up having to pay to expand decks.

Stick with GCCG.

Most definitely, of course I have to learn how to play first lol. I was kinda curious if it will have a positive, negative or no effect at all here? From what I have experienced on GCCG it is pretty cool and will eventually get the game down, I'm just slow at first but watch out once I start getting things down!

I think it's cool, but as it's Football WC, I don't play on GCCG anyway...

Maybe I'll try it after the WC.

You folks know that this LOTRO is not the card game but the MMORPG?

Well I thought that Legolis was talking about the LOTR TCG Online Game by Decipher. At first it made sense, as the game's servers were due to close at the end of the month. So I was happy that LOTR TCG would survive longer.

Then I read on, and realised that it was the MMORPG, not the TCG! :(

But the deckbuilding possibilities in LotrO are superiour to GCCG. If only you could import decks from there to GCCG

But how do they compare to the awesomeness that is Zorbec's?

I downloaded Deciphers LOTRO Program and even though I can't play there (I have no account either) I use it's offline features, such as it's deckbuilder. It's very easy to build decks there, I can easily look through all the cards or search the one I need. Once I make a deck there, I just put all cards together using GCCG's decbuilder.

GCCG's deckbuilder is quite good actually, once you learn to filter cards. The only thing I mind is that cards have to load every time you check out the collection so it takes more time. You can load entire database at once (that takes about 1-2 min on my computer), but since I usually use /find command, it's not necessary.

You'll never go back. Make sure you get the images working (.txt to download in the Green Dragon). Advanced card filter options are AMAZING.

For people who like mmo's or computer games the game that they talk about is really great. Have been playing for over 2 years now and have been enjoying it very much.
It's really close to the books, the scenery is great and the community as well. I would say try it. ;)
