With all these discussions on the morality of the empire in star wars and hitler why don't we talk about Suarez? Was he right in stopping the game winning goal with his hand? I hated that and ink he should have been suspended for longer. But I might have done the same thing in his position, so would you have stopped the ball with your hand?

I don't think so. It IS a tool the game gives you, I mean, he still gave out a penalty kick and traded his ability to play the next game in order for his country to have a chance to move on. Non-violently. In the same way that a quarterback "accidentally" misses his pass and throws the ball out of bounds to stop the clock. It's a legit strategy, as long as you're prepared to suffer the consequences. Brazilian player Leonardo, for instance, threw an elbow at US player Tab Ramos in the eigth finals of the '94 Cup. That got him expelled from the game, and then suspended for the rest of the tournament. THIS is fair, in my opinion. Throwing elbow is a despicable behavior. Giving away a non-violent penalty isn't.
Just to add to the debate, I think, for instance, that players who burn the clock by faking injuries and cramps, or kicking the ball far away, etc, should be suspended. THIS is not a trade-off situation, it's an exploit. Suarez's wasn't. And I thought it was an AWESOME play, to be entirely honest. All the more because it WORKED.

He took a risk, allthough I also don't believe he had much time to think it over. Things were going like lightning, and I truely believe it was a reflex. For the rest, I totally agree with Felipe...

Having played a reasonable level of football before, what Suarez did was acceptable. Ghana could complain all they want, but if the roles were reversed then they would be celebrating. I always wished that while playing for my club in the semi final I would have a chance to do what Suarez did, and forever secure a place in the starting XI! Something no 19 year old has done before!

Ghana just had to score that penalty kick and they would have been fine. They failed and they are responsible for their own loss.
