I just finished writing this and was looking to shamelessly show off.

So feel free to tell me how awesome it is! hehe.
All EqualCrying clearly at home in the rocking chair.
Missing memories of days-never-come, never-gone-by.
Forlorn, forgot; for all the world for naught.
The final chorus of serenity's great unstart.
We can live, we can die, we can spend our lives wheeling in the why.
All things equal; we're all equal – adrift – in the long divide.
The one of love is calling at the wide-awake.
Missed rings of avoiding words: solacing dreams.
Never knowing answers for the left-behind.
The final crisis of solidity's great unrest.
We can live, we can die, we can spend our lives wheeling in the why.
All things equal; we're all equal – adrift – in the long divide.
It's impunity, immunity, the last of life's divinity.
Drowning in the form of formlessness enshamed.
Looking ahead bleakly for the times of the better-behaved.
Not once rooted down in the soil of the sound.
The final callous of severity's great unmolest.
We can live, we can die, we can spend our lives wheeling in the why.
All things equal; we're all equal – adrift – in the long divide.
We can live, we can die, we can spend our lives wheeling in the why.
All things equal; we're all equal – adrift – in the long divide.
I could live, I could die. I'll not be wheeling in the why.

To me, this poem has lots of obvious and not-so-obvious meanings. On the surface, I'm taking three snapshots of my past, telling myself how rotten it was to be there, and then reminding myself that I kept going and things did eventually get better (thus equaling out). But as I look deeper into what I wrote, I see also that I was writing about taking a chance... throwing the questions to the wind and going for something I've wanted.
But I applied this poem to humanity as a whole and saw that I was also writing about how much we all have in common. We're all trapped here on Earth spinning through the universe, completely helpless to protect ourselves from whatever's out there.
...
It's a complicated poem with many more nuances of meaning. That's why I like it so much. Even though I wrote it, I'll be able to go back and read it over and over again through the years and find a new application for it each time.
