Alrighty then. Here's the scoop on
:
- The plugin for the Cobra's shop works only in phpBB2, not phpBB3 (the latest version) or SMF (this forum).
- SMF has a shop mod but it doesn't seem well suited for use here without some heavy code modifications that I don't have time for right now.
- Many of the special features that could be bought by gold on CC are now enabled by default here on TLHH. I doubt that you all would want me to shrink your avatars and signatures so that you could rebuy the privilege of keeping them as they were.
Dain and I have discussed perhaps implementing a gold system where rewards can be bought by PM'ing an admin. It could be done with some work on our part, though the rewards themselves would be open to discussion.
Another idea for gold is that it just serves as a "reputation" system that many other forums have. Regardless of post count, I kind of consider the gold count as indicative as how helpful/useful a member's posts are. And it's possible to allow "stealing" or removing gold from a member if they are irritating and spammy. :hey:
In any case, I'd like to restore the old gold counts. Browsing through the CC SQL, I found some numbers that I
think represent gold counts. Here are the highest ones -- do these seem correct from what y'all remember?
