Connection failed - installing GCCG
« on: November 10, 2010, 09:52:05 PM »
Hi all of you!

So glad that i found this site! can't wait to play LOTR online any longer!
When i was following the instructions (http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php/topic,1474.0.html) to install GCCG, after I typed in my username, closed GCCG and launch again,
it said:
Connecting to gccg.serverbeer.com port 29120
connection failed
working offline
as you can see on the attached image.

I tried to relaunch, reboot the PC, but nothing happens.

My PC is a vista, normal 32-bit

Any problem?

Thanks!!! :)

Did you check your Internet connectivity? I know mine will randomly stop working occasionally, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone, so try fiddling with your router.

Also, you may need to open port 29120, and I would suggest doing so if you haven't already.

If you have a firewall on your computer, try disabling it. Also, make sure to delete C:\.gccg to reset any settings.

Open your router. If you don't have a router, forget everything I've said as all ports are automatically open.

I can guide you through adjusting router/port settings if you'd like.

Oh, and btw, welcome to TLHH. Hopefully your technical difficulties should be sorted out quickly and you'll be playing with the pro's in no time. ;)

how to solve server closed connection ~ abnormal EXIT

You can't. It's not up to you. For the most part.

I noticed several weeks ago (it may have been fixed by now) that buying certain cards would cause server closed connection - ABNORMAL EXIT. I know I was trying to make a monopoly on Eowyn, LoI and was bought 20 or so copies when server closed connection. When it got back up, I no longer could buy Eowyn, LoI without crashing the server (nor could anyone else for that matter). Certain other cards were causing the same problems.

Why this happens, is beyond me.
