It's been a (really) long time!

Greetings, all.

First off, this does not constitute a "return." Unfortunately.

I know it's been a long time since I've last been here -- I'm not even sure how many of the "old guard" are still around these days. I kind of hope at least a few of you guys are -- Dain, Menace, SoP, Lem0n, AC, NB, and the rest of you (too many to list) and, of course, Kralik.

Anyway, I've had a lot of stuff going on in my life over the past couple years since I left, some good, some bad. Certain things going on in my life have been making me think about the past. I was thinking the other day about all that and how much has changed for me in the past few years, getting all sentimental, et cetera, and I thought of this place. Without getting too sappy, I can say that I more than kind of miss this place and all of you. Even though I've never met most of you in person, only online, I consider you old friends.


Two things I wanted to say:
First, thank you to all of you who, back in the day, made this such a great online community -- and thank you, I suppose, to everyone who's continued to make it so in the past two years, even if I don't really know you.

Also, I felt like I should let you all know what's going on. Old-Timers may recall that back when I left the reasons I gave were that I was simply too busy with reality (school and such) and that I had recently, to my great surprise, acquired a girlfriend.
Well, school is even more busy now (though I've got time to write this now because of break). I'm double-majoring (English Literature and History -- surprise, surprinse .)

I do not have a girlfriend anymore, though.

...Actually, I have a fiancee, now. I'm engaged! Yippee! 

NB and SoP (if they're even still around here) may already know that; I think I'm friends with both of you guys on Facebook.

Consequently, I'm getting into one of those reflective moods associated with impending change, and I just wanted to stop by the old forums for a visit. Like I said, this doesn't really constitute a return, but I'll probably pop in a few more times over the next couple weeks before the next semester starts.
Anyway, good to "see" you all again!

AD! Yeah, I saw that on fb and was like, sweet! Dude, I haven't talked to you since like...NCFCA days.

um...Garrison's still around too I think, though he wasn't so much old guard as a mutual friend.

Might also interest you that I now go to college with SoP's brother bob the orc. menace...I don't think you knew him IRL, but I played some TCG with him. not sure what happened to him, I should go stalk his FB.

EDIT: FB successfully stalked. he seems to be doing fine.

I never really knew you, but your post just got me to thinking about Cobra Cards. Man I miss that place. But anyway I just wanted to wish you luck in your new life, I think that is really good that you are double majoring in English and History. Keep up the good work (all of the papers you have to write, man must be stressful).  Godbless your upcoming marriage and have a Merry Christmas!

Wow, hello! Heh, I know I never came to know you much (BTW, I'm Gizlivadi with a different name), though I still remember when you helped me a long time ago with British Dark Age history (Double-majoring on that, huh?) so I know you're a cool guy and it's awesome to hear such good news from you. Congratulations on your engagement! Hope your new life will be full of happyness and joy, and have a merry Christmas!

Wow, there's more people still around than I had thought; I didn't see any signs of some of you guys. Nice to re-meet you guys.

Yanko: Yeah, I remember that. I don't really remember anything about what it was about, other than that I scoured my library to try to find a particular book, and thought I'd lost it for awhile before I was able to help.   Not sure if I mentioned that at the time or not. Still have the book, though.

Yeesh, I forgot how many good memories I have of this place. I really wish I had the time to actually make a long-term  return rather than an occasional visit over the next few weeks. I think my chaotic life should settle down a little once I get into grad school, though. Might be able to come back in a couple years. Long time off, still.


And, of course, Merry Christmas to all you guys as well!

Hey AD, gees long time mate. I understand your sentiments. I pop in now and again cos i get soppy and nostalgic. But unfortunately i stopped playing lotr years ago. I play mtg but the community on here is dead. Plus my wife and child keep me very busy.

Pm me with your facebook ID, im on there too, friends with DI and SoP at least. (Was with a few others but lost my friends when my account got hacked!)
