Massive Heal/burden removal combo
« on: December 26, 2010, 08:16:44 AM »
I just posted about this combo in the expanded forum, but just now I realized that it has perfect place in movie block.

The cards you need for the combo:
-The Shards of Narsil
-A Light in His Mind
-The Shire Countryside (the more the better)

All you need is to get your hand size down to 4 (with Resolute Friend for example), then stack a gondor card on TSoN to lose initiative, then take it back for 1 twilight token and repeat this. All I need now is to find a deck for this combo.

The only problem, is that I don't know that the rule of 4 only forbids you from taking more than 4 cards into hand from your draw deck, or from anywhere... Can someone educate me please? (even if it forbids to use TSON more than 4 times, this still provides considerable amount of healing)

Ooh...problem though. Not many [Gondor] cards to stack on The Shards of Narsil. Let me reconsider this.

Do you want this loop to be infinite?

Edit: Even better of an idea might be to start Gandalf, Leader of Men and Ranger of Ithilien. Then you could use Saved From the Fire to grab the Shards of Narsil and the other stuff you may want. Toss in a few Hobbits and use Saved From the Fire to burn one of them too and grab another Hobbit, A Light In His Mind, and The Shire Countryside?

If I could create an infinite loop with this, that would be awesome, but if not, I still want to work with this combo. Just to confirm it then, is it legal to take more then 4 cards into hand with TSON?

No, an infinite loop would be impossible due to the Rule of Four. Nice way to remove a few burdens though.

Edit: On the same note, while Ever My Heart Rises may give you an extended first hand, you wouldn't be able to take all six cards into hand (if they all happened to be Free Peoples cards).

Thanks for the quick answers. Even if it is not infinite, finally I found a deck where I can play Still Sharp :p.

I want to try something similar, something like this:

RB: Frodo (about any version will do) + ATAR
1 x Boromir, SoD (starting)
1 x Merry, FtS
3 x Sam, Resolute Halfling (to lose initiative in fellowship)
3 x TSON
4 x Aragorn, Elessar Telcontar
2 x Aragorn's Bow
1 x Blade of Gondor
4 x Shire Countryside
3 x A Light in His Mind
2 x Gondorian Sword
4 x A Promise
3 x Hobbit Sword
1 x Escape
2 x The Saga of Elendil
1 x Knife of the Galadhrim
3 x Still Sharp

And pair it with Under Foot corsairs, because it is very big right now

Shelobplayer: I'm afraid to say that your deck looks like it would be crushed against most decks. Five companions, two of which (Merry, Friend to Sam, Boromir, Son of Denethor) are supposed to avoid fighting spells disaster.

Maybe you are right... I haven't played movie block... Well, since Shadows got released, but seems like everyone plays it on GCCG, and I don't want to play the old boring decks like knights, elves or dwarfs... Will some Shadowplay and Greenleaf help?

Hahaha. Shadowplay decks are some of the most overplayed (and generally boring) decks on GCCG. I think everyone has a deck with Gimli, Bearer of Grudges, Slaked Thirsts, Shadowplay, Unheeded, Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien, Gondor Bowmen, and Aragorn's Bow in it. Whether you use Legolas, Greenleaf or Legolas, Dauntless Hunter is up to you.

What do you think about a full hobbit version with 4 TSON splashed only? Maybe with Bilbo, BotB as the rb, since I will always have at least 4 twilight in the pool. It has to be small though, because I need to draw at least 2 TSON to make it work...

Dont think that would work... it will be to slow and there are better options to play with Bilbo and ad pool.... (Gandalf with ring for instance)
