So Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Boynes, and del Toro are writing the script. Same trio as LotR, plus the Hobbit director. This should be pretty good.

That is pretty awesome! It stinks that we have to wait another 3 years but oh well...at least they got some good talent behind it.

Great! I wonder if PJ has more of a say on what goes in/out of the movie than the other guys writing the script. Or is this basically the same people the LOTR Trilogy's scripts were written?
Looks like all's well...so far

With the exception of adding del Toro, who is the director they got for The Hobbit, everyone who's doing the Hobbit script is the same as on LotR.
2011 is gonna be a good movie year... Captain America, Avengers, and The Hobbit. Can't get much better than that, unless Batman3 releases in 2011, too.

Filming is going to take a full year. Probably won't be seeing the first entry until late 2012

Guillermo del Toro left the production. So there is a new director needed.... Production seems to start in November - if they get a director.

Guillermo del Toro drops out of directing 'The Hobbit'
Quote from bottom of article
"Jackson does not anticipate any delay or disruption to ongoing pre-production work. The films, co-produced by New Line Cinema and MGM, are scheduled for release in December 2012 and December 2013."
Hmmm I hope its before the 21st, ya know the end of the world and all.
Of course that all depends if they get out of this hole or not....
Every time I see that pic I think of Leonidas Kicking that messenger in the chest.
