Evoke and Blink (Block)
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:03:36 AM »
The point of this deck is to evoke a lot and blink a lot. Multicolor fun. :D

Reflecting Pool x 4
Primal Beyond x 4
Mystic Gate x 4
Vivid Creek x 4
Vivid Meadow x 4
Vivid Crag x 4

Mistmeadow Witch x 4
Turn to Mist x 4
Dream Fracture x 4

Smokebraider x 4
Shriekmaw x 4
Kitchen Finks x 4
Spitebellows x 4
Mulldrifter x 4
Thunderblust x 4

Should be obvious. Smash with evokeables and then blink with Turn to Mist and Witches.

I'm struggling most with how to do the mana base. Elementals only are a piece of cake, but adding in the Blink engine makes it a little more difficult. I tried the whole Vivids + Reflecting Pool thing, hope that works.

Thing is, how exactly do you plan on actually winning the game? Not sure it'll work... Also, I'd advise adding in Graceful Reprieve and Makeshift Mannequin to the deck (and some sacrifice outlets), as to get even more mileage out of your guys.
However, I think the idea is "cute" in a draft deck, you COULD viably go down this route and win often, but not in Constructed.

The point of the deck is to win via a Thunderblust or 2, some evasion Shriekmaws or Mulldrifter pounding, etc. Plenty of beaters.

But... they all just cost so much! Seriously, Smokebraider? Not gonna work miracles, specially since Smokebraider usually comes down with a target on his forehead anyway, and it dies to Peppersmoke.

Doesn't help a lot with colors, and it's not nearlt as good, might as well play Llannowar Elves and get pretty much the same result (yeah, not in color, just an example), since you won't be playing more than one elemental a turn. On the other hand, you could try to squeeze in green to play Firespout, making it also effective against pesky Faeries, play a few more counterspells and fewer copies of some creatures (perhaps even fitting in Primal Command as a tutor and a life-gain cushion). You'd need, what? A single source of white mana? You could even drop white altogether, I think.
