Poorman's Movieblock formatrules and X/R-list.
« on: February 07, 2011, 10:50:33 AM »
To make it 'official', let us talk about it here.

Cards allowed:

-All common cards
-All uncommon cards
-All premium cards

With the following exceptions: (list to be completed by debate)

- Mordor Fiend
- Gondorian Captain, still being able to filter your deck from fellowship cards, leaving a shadow deck lurking for real damage.

Other thoughts?

Well...if it's a Poorman's Movieblock then cards from sets 11+ are also not allowed. Just commons, uncommons and premiums from sets 1-10... and all the C/U cards from Reflections also ;)

Sitepath - RotK? I'd rather if it was some sort of multipath... I always considered site path to be the greatest limitation of Movie block...

I think it would be better to keep RotK site path, so that it is still "Movie Block" aside from rarity restrictions. But premiums--really? Aragorn's Bow (P) and whatnot?

Premiums as in starters, not promo's. If the majority wants multipath, I am in favor too, since I do share Hrcho's comment on the element of surprise.

As far as site path goes, default to ROTK, but allow players of the format the flexibility to play FOTR or TT site path upon prior agreement.

Let's first decide upon the site path (poll if needed). Depending on the sites used, X-list will change a lot.

I think it would be better to keep RotK site path, so that it is still "Movie Block" aside from rarity restrictions.

Well, it'd be a bit confusing and somewhat redundant to have both Poorman's Multipath and Poorman's Movie... so, let's first learn which is the preferred option and then create that one.

Also, what of these cards:

Bill the Pony
No Stranger to the Shadows
Aggression
Memories of Darkness
Forces of Mordor
Ulaire Nertea, LoM
Frying Pan

I think that Memories of Darkness, Ulaire Nertea, LoM and Frying Pan should be on the X-list and the others listed to be on the R-list at least.

So, no further interest in the poorman's section? Concerning the X-list, I agree on the ones Hrcho has added and agree on the R-list as well. So we have:

X-list:
Memories of Darkness
Ulaire Nertea LoM
Frying Pan
Mordor Fiend
Gondorian Captain

R-list:
Forces of Mordor
Bill the Pony
No Stranger to the Shadows
Aggression

Any other thoughts on this format? Multipath, or just RotK sites?

I would've agreed with you if we were talking within the limits of FotR or TS block, but with Movie it is bad. Shadowplay is extremely powerful as it is and there is enough orc-hate as it is. Curse Their Foul Feet ripped some of my decks apart.
