GCCG Sellback?
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:02:10 AM »
Bravo, Kralik. Awesome post.

PS: I'm still interested in seeing a "virtual store" for singles on GCCG, if it's possible. Meaning: no one is gonna buy commons (ok, they will, but not nearly enough in proportion) enough for people to get rid of their 90 copies of a single one. I was thinking that maybe GCCG could have (for those interested in collecting/playing without proxies) an option to sell a card to the in-game store. It would simply vanish (so it wouldn't "compete" with players for selling cards), and it would pay a BUCKETLOAD less, but it'd be STILL a way to get rid of excess unwanted cards that pile up after a while. So, for instance, a full playset of a common could be sold for 0.01. Uncommons could be sold in playsets (for a little more) or singles, but with reduced prices. For rares, it could be simpler, just making the in-game store pay, like, half what the cheapest price available is or set amount, no matter which rare (and a low one).

PPS: I don't want to start a topic (and a ruckus) out of this, but if you feel it's worth it, feel free to clip the post and move it.

But what's the fun in THAT? :P It's not even like I'm giving them away to a new player or anything! :)

What you propose requires core programming that I don't have the time for right now. Something that I could do is make a way to mass-give or shred extra cards. The GCCG "economy" is quite devalued.

I think programming in a "shred" option would actually help get commons and uncommons above 1 cent. In the meantime, entrepreneurs can bring rares up by buying them out. As far as I know the early "buying a card crashes the game" errors are all fixed, so no worries there.

But where's the point? I always play with proxies anyway, I don't see any use of having those cards "in real" other than rearding Promos after a match. And even those aren't real, so why bother at all?

People find it fun to collect. You could also ask something like:

"What's the point of collecting virtual weapons, armor, equipment, stats, and levels in MMORPG's?! None of it is real anyway..." :P

I don't play any MMORPG's, mind, but I understand the appeal.
