Read if you play: GCCG changes
« on: February 21, 2011, 10:03:03 AM »
I'm hoping to help abate some the conflict/arguments regarding GCCG and PC-related stuff. To do so, I've added a few more tables.

There are now 2 1P Tables, 2 2P Tables, and 1 each of 3P/4P tables that support "OFFICIAL RULES." In these tables, Mr. Underhill (P) is not allowed. The legality check on your client will still say he's legal; in the next update, I will add options to check legality for either OFFICIAL/House rules. To be fair, if you are playing by official rules, I'd venture to say that RB cancel in FotR/TTT/TS is not allowed either.

The rest of the tables are "House Rules." Any changes made by the GCCG players group in "The Straight Road" subforum will affect these tables only. This will include the discussion on Lady Redeemed. If you voted on the principle of "don't change anything!" I urge you to reconsider. Please vote based on whether you think she needs to be banned (i.e. she is OP, NPE, etc) or not, not based on whether you want change or not. You can always play the "OFFICIAL RULES."

To avoid confusion, let's go back to the old standard of sitting at a table when you want a game. This way, you can sit at an OFFICIAL/House rules table and your opponents will know what you want to play accordingly. Also, as a side note: ADD your GCCG username to your TLHH profile! This is what I will go off of if you need to reset your password. Also, I am likely going to remove any votes from users who are not players in GCCG.

Finally, I've added bets to some of the 2P tables. They are in the amounts of $10/$20/$50/$100. There are plenty of tables to go around and throwing in some (virtual) stakes may be fun. You'll see the amount on the table itself. Enjoy!

Also, a question:

Does anyone actually play the "draft" formats? I was thinking of removing them from the deck check to get rid of some of the clutter.

Just got a trivial question.

Why is OFFICIAL RULES in caps while House Rules isn't?

I thought it would be visually better if all were in caps. :)

Edit: Nope I haven't played draft.

Super Excited about the ability to "bet" on games. This should be fun.  I wish that there were some ladders/leagues in play (especially for fellowship block). I am really enjoying FotR again.

It's so that it's easier to see at a glance which tables are official rules. The font is small and there's no way to color code or distinguish them otherwise.

a point of clarification- so in "official rules" you can NOT stealth ringbearer skirmishes or use OEG to stealth on the ringbearer? Can you do this in "House Rules"?

Those are the official rules according to the Comprehensive Rulebook. On GCCG, many have allowed RB cancel since those were the rules at the time of FotR/TTT. But technically you can't.

If you go strictly by the rules (what I would expect from you if you played on OFFICIAL Rules Table) then you indeed cannot cancel RB skirmishes. However, this has been so widely accepted for FotR, TT and TS formats that I think no one will object.

On House Rules this is most certainly allowed (for FotR, TT and TS formats).

We can certainly decide this as part of a "House Rules" discussion.  Personally, I'd like the "House Rule" to be that the Ring-bearer's skirmish can only be canceled if the Ring-bearer is a Hobbit, but we'll see how it goes.

I removed the $10 bet table as it's so minimal it's probably not worth using. Instead, I've replaced it with a table labeled "***Playtesting Rules***" This table will be one that we can use to try new rules or new cards. It's easy for me to reset it with any additions without having to restart the entire server. More info in the House Rules forum.
