The Movie block league
« on: March 24, 2011, 09:59:18 AM »
Towers Standard has turned into a bit of a washout.

I am hoping Movie block will bring in more interest and games.

How do we want to approach it? Are we happy with the current X-list as given by Decipher, or is everyone in support of the House Rules lists, which currently have added Galadriel, LR to the x-list and 0P62 through 0P66 allowed?

I won't play it unless at least Galadriel, LR is banned. There are no Gentleman's Agreements when it comes to leagues and tournaments, it either is or it isn't. And if it isn't, it will be used and abused.

I know that people are trying to accomplish tournament play around here, but what have these leagues shown or proven? It's the same four or five people playing all of the games and interest diminishes between each league.

TS was and is not a popular format. Movie on the other hand is very popular.

I personally found FotR, TTT and TS all to have such small card pools that everyone played essentially the same deck, more so in FotR. More people should be willing to play movie games as it is essentially the 'Standard' of TLHH and GCCG.

I didn't play in the other leagues because I only recently started playing on GCCG.  How does the league work?  Is there a set number of games you play each week?  Are you required to use the same deck for each game or can you change between games?

Movie I would play either way....

But what about the proposal of FM, to play some sort of movie open to allow all cards and just see what happens to the format. Build a killer Aggression deck, a killer LR deck etc... Sounds interesting to me

I think that the Movie Block league would be more popular and be able to draw more players.  Using the house rules it would be better so no Galadriel, LR.  I think we would see more creativity in decks and it would be more fun in general.  Whenever this gets started, I'm in.

I've been a collector mainly, but would certainly like to try and play more. :book: If you are patient enough with my newbie-style of playing ( ](*,)), I am in.  \:D/

Stick with Decipher's x-list. Otherwise it's not really movie block, it will be 'TLHH's house rules movie block league'.

Personally I have not ever played with LR once, but she is legal in movie block, so should be used if people want too.

Since it's a player organized league, most likely it will be whatever the majority wants to play.
