Whats the best way to get started?
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:32:26 PM »
Hey all. I played  lotr years ago. Found a bunch of boosters for 50 cents at a con, and bam. Pulled me back in.
So, I've decided to start with the movie sets and work my way up. Should I buy booster boxes, or singles? Most of the boxes of the movie sets are super cheap. Anywhere from 20-40 per box, and I love cracking packs.

Also, whats the difference in the blocks? I understand that 3 sets normally makes a block. But it seems like there are almost blocks within blocks. I see people writhing about movie rules, or whatever that was. I would love a list of the blocks, I'm sure there is one here. But I'm unable to find it. Link, anyone?

You can check the Lothlorien section for formats, and each format has a stickied post with its rules (including the sets that make that format up) and regulations (X-lists, R-lists and such).
Nowadays, it really does not make that much of a difference how you go about it, as most boxes are dirty cheap and so are complete sets. On the newer sets, both are expensive as #$&*@! as well, so, still, doesn't make that much of a difference.
I, for one, love cracking me some packs. I'd also advise you to download GCCG (you can find a link for it at the Valinor section) and play a few games online. It's fun, it's free AND you get to crack packs!

For just starting Booster Boxes are the way to go. :)
