Greek Situation

I am dying to know whether Greece is the mess it seems to be. I know we have (had active) Greek members, so perhaps they care to join. The image shown here (The Netherlands) is that Greek people hardly pay any tax, that the government is corrupt, weak and controls way too many companies and such. Also, the Greek is portrayed as a person who quits his work at age 50....Anyone (Apopatos) who can help?
