[4] Sirannon Ruins

Free Peoples Draw Deck:

1x •Smeagol, Slinker
1x •Pippin, Hobbit of Some Intelligence
1x •Aldred, Eored Soldier
1x •Gamling, Defender of the Hornburg
1x •Woodhall Elf, Exile
1x •Gwaihir, The Windlord
1x •Pallando, Far-travelling One
1x •Elendil's Army
1x •Faramir's Company
1x •Gondorian Servant, Denethor's Handman
4x Rohan Stable Master
4x Rohan Worker
1x •Rohirrim Doorwarden
1x •Deagol, Fateful Finder

Shadow Draw Deck:

3x Goblin Runner
1x •Gollum, Dark as Darkness
4x •Ulaire Attea, Second of the Nine Riders
4x •Ulaire Cantea, Black Assassin
4x •Ulaire Enquea, Thrall of The One
4x •Ulaire Lemenya, Servant of the Shadow
2x •Ithil Stone
4x Moving This Way
4x Lost to the Goblins

Free Peoples Strategy: Get every card out on your first turn (grab Gamling's horn with Deagol) Kill off two companions (Aldred, Pippin) so the shadow can't discard anything. And then single move and survive until the shadow wins.

Shadow Strategy: Mulligan if you don't get a Moving This Way in your starting hand. When you do get one, cycle through your deck until you get the 4 Lost To The Goblins, the 3 Goblin Runners, and Gollum, Dark As Darkness. Add twelve burdens with that. A couple more with Attea and Enquea, and in extreme cases, you usually have enough cards to use Courtyard Parapet.

You need to have Neekerbreekers' Bog in your adventure deck, otherwise if opponent sees what you're up to he will exhaust his ring-bearer and win without problems (especially if he has Ring of Rings and even if you somehow manage to get Gollum to regroup phase with 3 vitality remaining this will just add one burden :)

I don't get how you will get every follower out on the first turn... you don't have enough vitality, AND you cannot play multiple copies of the same follower, so they will be stuck in your deck.

New Chapter will reheal Gamling everytime you use the horn to play a follower. You get New Chapter via Dammed Gate Stream pulling Something Slimy. As for his Followers the only one he has multiple copies of are not unique .

How will he exert his ring-bearer? Two minions are usually all it takes to get yourself completely set up...

Losing skirmishes to Nazgul you play (most of them fierce) or with any special ability he has. For example Sixth Level if he's got Boromir or Isildur. You definitely need neither North Undeep nor Sirannon Ruins in the deck, Neekerbreeker's Bog will help much more.

Very creative idea...  not so sure it needs the Ithil Stone, I know it's supposed to help cycle but I feel it would get in the way of a potentially killer hand.  Not sure what to use instead though...

Ithil Stone is there to exert enquea and draw cards, it never gets in the way of a perfect hand because the card drawing is optional. If I have to play a nazgul to cycle others with Moving This Way, the extra card means I get an extra card to cycle and it's easier to get rid of the excess Moving This Way.

This deck is the reason why people can't play expanded safely without restrictions - like playing Shadowplay - Unheeded to disable DaD, or Drawing his Eye to kill the combo.

It is by no means creative, it is the most unimaginative deck ever. Play a game with or against it (I'm in the unfortunate position that I  have done both), and you will understand what I'm talking about.

No doubt, the resaon for non of the pieces are banned (New Chapter mainly), is that Decipher was not active by the time they printed the cards for it.

I didn't meant to offend you, but seriously, most of us who play for a long time know and hate this deck. What do you expect from this thread? The list is so tight it can't be changed, the only thing it can lead to is that when I log on to GCCG once in a full moon, wanting to play a fun match, I face this, and regardless of the result, I get frustrated.

easiest solution to your problem don't play expanded. There are far worse deck in expanded than this one and its pretty easy to avoid the shadow. Most people that have played long enough know what is coming after a few sites (especially when its the same old decks each time) and can prepare to avoid it best they can. I'm not LotR expert (as my GccG win/lose record will show) but when I face a certain deck over and over you finally start to see the cards being played and prepare to avoid it the best way your deck can even without making a deck to completely counter something. I think you are more enraged about the fellowship than the shadow (could be wrong) but all you have to do against the fellowship is get rid of the horns. There are more than enough cards that can splash in each culture type deck to get rid of those. He isn't even running Merry, Swordthain. Even if he was splash in some sort of assignment altering minions/conditions/events and have him move to Cavern Entrance. You don't even need assignment minions he will be giving you ridiculous twilight at the first site. Might even be able to get a swarm off get all his companions covered up and at Cavern Entrance the just avoid his shadow by keeping your ring-bearer exhausted. This is expanded you have alot of options that don't involve making a deck to 100% counter this.

I never said that the deck is too strong, I just said that it kills fun very consistently, it does only one thing every game. One, not more.

Doesn't kill the fun for me when I play against it. In fact winning is never a fun killer .

I actually just loaded a movie block deck that would kill this deck. Granted I'd have to change the site path for it but the rest is prefectly legal in expanded and that is a movie block deck that could handle this expanded deck (and obviously it wasn't created to face a hornfilter/LTTG deck).

Granted deck is annoying, but I haven't seen this over and over on GccG either and I have played my fair share of expanded there. I'd be more concerned with Madril's IB fellowship, Mountain troll and rapid reload with demoralized than I would this deck . #$&*@! even [Dwarven] discard/ [Sauron] discard is more annoying than this and it can be played in FotR block.

Thanks for posting the deck seems that lately the posting of decks has dead aside from me, Heije and Bauglir. As annoying for 'uncreative' as a deck maybe I hope the deck clinic gets more activity . It's getting harder and harder to come up with original ideas now but I'm still convinced there are some hidden gems still to be discovered.

Anyway my thoughts are done,
