Vroengard - trade with caution
« on: August 01, 2012, 08:02:43 AM »
Unfortunately, I need to let everyone know that Vroengard is a questionable trader.  We did a trade back in May.  He really wanted my 4 Wraith Collections but at first glance only had enough stuff for 2.  I was willing to find other stuff to trade for them, but he really wanted to get the trade done right away and in the mail because he wanted them for a deck.  So, I offered to go ahead and send all 4 and then later find something else from his trade list to cover the other two (he also was going to check with friends to see if they had anything I needed).  I sent him all 4, and he sent me the cards we agreed on for the first 2 (which arrived fine), but since then has been very uncooperative about trading for the other 2.  When I requested items from his posted trade list he said he couldn't trade them.  I asked several times for a list of cards that he would actually be willing to trade but he never sent a list.  Finally he said it would be easier to just send the 2 Wraith Collections back.  I agreed.  It has been 5 weeks since then, and I have sent him several messages asking when/if he got them in the mail but he hasn't responded to any of them (despite visiting the site and posting in that time period).  As of today I still haven't received them back.

I freely admit that this is partially my fault; I shouldn't have offered to send anything without clearly establishing the rest of the trade and doing it all at once, but he really wanted the cards and I've only had good experiences on these boards, so I wanted to help him out.  Again, the initial process was fine it was only once he had my cards and still owed me cards that he became very non-responsive and uncooperative.

Trade with caution.

I have done a couple dealings with him, and so far he has been more than generous. Hopefully it was/is bad communication.

Regardless of whether someone has traded with you or not, some people appreciate the information which helps temper future dealings. Some people don't remember that trading online puts your reputation at risk.

Personally, I think that even returning the two collections isn't enough in terms of recompense, unless I did not realize that jcb213 is running a cards library? If so, where can you sign me up for a foil Simbelmyne? I'll just pay the late fee.

Sometimes you make a mistake, have to work to fix that initial mistake, then work harder to rebuild your reputation. You've been with this website for three years--you're one of the old heads now in a stagnant [if not dying] community. Man up and make this right.

Postscript: Ostracizing yourself from 'the nerds' with insipid name-calling certainly does not rebuild your reputation.

Another month has gone by.  I still haven't received my cards (on August 6 he said he would send the 2 Wraith Collections back) , and he hasn't responded to a message I sent earlier this week asking if/when he sent them (despite being active on the site).

Sorry to hear that, however, I traded with Vroengard a while back and had no problems. Hopefully he's just late. I don't know if it makes any difference with shipping, but he does live in Germany. Although I got my cards from him in about a week and a half.

It's not the first time forumers relate problems with this user.

PS: Where I live, it's not easy, but you can make a case and file a claim for mail fraud, and it does not cost you anything to do it, not to mention it might give some people quite a headache depending on the consequences they might face in said country. Depends on how it works where you are, and how much personal info you can gather, though.

I'll add a second warning to this list.  I had purchased some cards from him earlier without issue, but because of coming from Germany it did take a while for them to get here.  Well back in mid July I purchased a few more from him and have yet to see anything.  I've sent him 3-4 PM's of which he hasn't responded to--despite being active on the site (as was mentioned earlier)--even just asking for some form of acknowledgement.  Just FYI.
