Good luck using old cultures versus the new ones. The power creep from set 11 onward got worse and worse. Big D dialed it back with set 19. A might bit too late.

I find movie block to be much more "playable" although my favorite format is TS. It is my opinion that the game started "exploding" from set 7 onward.

Nevertheless Sgt, its good to hear you are trying gemp. It is by far the best online engine I've used. My gemp name is jdizzy so if you see me we should play a game.

That's kind of ironic, considering the reason why the new minion cultures were implemented in the first place, was to simplify the minion cultures in order to prevent power creep, with a card pool that was theoretically less complex and therefore easier to design for.

Big D dialed it back with set 19.

How so?

I find movie block to be much more "playable"

That uses the numbered King sitepath though, right? I really like the newer mechanic of getting to choose which site you play next.

although my favorite format is TS.

I was never happy with the more limited card pools. Not big on X-lists, and errata is a pain (except inside Gemp, where the cards actually reflect the new text!)

My gemp name is jdizzy so if you see me we should play a game.

Absolutely! So far I've only got Expanded decks in there, though.

...okay now that i look at it a bit more, i guess the texts from set 19 werent as dialed back as i thought. well travelled guide is 3 or 4 cards in one. i guess by dialed back i meant there was no built in hunter ;),

yeah, movie block uses king site path. as for limited card pool, i'll take that over a troll swarm anyday. once i saw how poorly the new cultures were balanced, i decided that limiting myself to the first 10 sets wouldn't be as bad as i first thought. when you're playing a choke deck and your opponent can still play 3 or 4 dmg +1, fierce, str 12+ trolls at every site something is wrong with your game balance (i wish i was exaggerating).

Hmmm. Maybe we should invent a new format that disallows the three new minion cultures, but allows everything else?

Maybe call it "old school?" ;)

Movie block is by far the best format. After Shadows, the game became needlessly complex.
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.
