What are some strategies to protect your possessions from getting discarded?

Lately I've been bumping up against some decks that play havoc with discarding my free peoples possessions, leaving my guys with nothing.
What are some strategies/cards that people can use to help protect their possessions from such attacks?
I'd like this thread to be a repository for such strategies. Your help is appreciated!

Don't use possessions in the first place! I have a
SFTF
deck (Movie) that pumps up Aragorn and Elendil with Anduril and Narsil, respectively, and use
Sharpen Your Swords
,
SOTSF
and
Noble Leaders
for strength boosts. Start
Gandalf Leader of Men
and a
Ranger of Ithilien
, then burn the ranger ASAP to get set up with your big fighters. You'll also have Boromir, Faramir and Denethor in there as extra meat shields. The only possession I use is an
Armor
, and the only Shadow cultures that can discard it are precisely those that I won't need the armor against.

Doesn't
Beyond the Height of Men
discards armor, and isn't it from a culture that packs quite a punch against unarmored characters?

True enough, but a lot of
decks don't even pack that card. And Aragorn and Elendil are usually strong enough to take out the Uruks anyway, since Savagery is banned in Movie block.
