Not Easily Destroyed + The Witch-king, Lord of the Nazgul
« on: October 10, 2012, 02:59:05 AM »
Hi there everybody
Question: can I use the healing ability of Not Easily Destroyed as a combo with  The Witch-king, Lord of the Nazgul (2R85) ability to exert him more than 3 times (example with a Witch-king not wounded)?
Winning a skirmish -> exert (x3) -> heal -> exert = 8 wounds  ?

Under the right conditions, yes.  The witch-king's ability says "each time", which means that his ability can be used once at the end of each skirmish that he wins.  If he wins a skirmish, gets healed, and then wins another skirmish (e.g. a fierce skirmish or the fellowship moved again), then you can use his ability again.

However, you can't use his ability multiple times for a single skirmish.

I think you don't quite understand how skirmishes and skirmish actions work, Ramingo. Here's a brief rundown:

1) FP chooses which skirmish to resolve.
2) Perform any "at the start of skirmish" actions, with the FP getting the first opportunity to do so, then alternating until both players pass.
3) FP chooses to play a skirmish event, use a skirmish special ability or pass, then the Shadow player gets that same choice. Continue this until both players pass.
4) Skirmish resolves with a winner and loser.
4a) Perform mandatory actions resulting from the skirmish resolving, such as placing a wound(S) on the losing character(S).
4b) Perform optional actions resulting from the skirmish resolving, again beginning with FP and alternating back and forth.
5) FP chooses next skirmish to resolve.

As you can see, Shadow player gets the opportunity to use Not Easily Destroyed during section 3 of the above list, while The Witch-king's ability is used during section 4b.

Furthermore, The Witch-king's ability can be used only once each time he wins a skirmish. So even if NED and The Witch-king could be used during the same time frame, it wouldn't make any difference.
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

If you want to use the Witch King special ability several times, I would suggest Fell Beast. Even without healing him, you can wound the ring bearer 4 times, which is already very nice.

Don't forget that if the ring bearer is wearing the one ring, depending on the ring, those wounds would be converted to burdens.

Good combo! These way I have won several times
