Is GCCG (mostly) dead? (or "GCCG X Gemp", maybe)
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:13:52 PM »
I know it works, but...

- I saw only two players online (probably friends irl)
- I couldn't get the images at all (is someone has them!!!!, please, be kind to upload them)

"Why not use Gemp?"

I'd like to be able to build my deck little by little as I gather money (and my only option being waiting a week is really boring), have a collection which is useful (not only for leagues), being able to trade cards and buy them only from other players. I think Gemp is for those who just wanna play as freely as possible as if they had all cards from start, but that's not me. As I posted on the topic with the suggestions for Gemp--probably not gonna be taken into account, since I don't believe that's their point--, I wanna feel like I'm making some substantial progress. I also want to get used to the cards little by little (or get used AGAIN, for the earlier sets).

Should I try to get the images for GCCG and hope there are players? Should I hope Gemp's gonna change a little bit towards what I want, even if as an optional feature? Should I just hope I can build something similar to what I want from scratch? Or should I just lose hope? (Be honest, but don't be rude, please ;))

Gemp is the only viable way to go now. You can play in leagues and win prize packs to build your collection faster.
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

I haven't tried GCCG. Thought about it, but shied away from it when I heard the images no longer work. What is the issue? Any insight into why GCCG is not doing so well anymore?

The image files aren't available anymore. Someone put them here a while ago, but the link's broken. I /could/ do it all over again from the wiki (made some tests and could make them work), but I see no point, since no one plays =/

I have images of all the sets that I downloaded as a plugin for Lackey, but I don't know if they would work with GCCG.

Could you zip them all and upload the file? Even if they don't work, just renaming them is a lot easier than downloading AND renaming them. Pretty please with sugar on it? Feel the Christmas spirit!  ;D

If you do that, I can do the renaming and upload the updated file

Ok, thanks a lot!

The file names are correct only for 2 sets, I'll have to rename all the others. While I'm at it, I'm going to edit the text for cards with errata and clarifications.

I have just one question to make it perfect. All sites images are horizontal. Should I turn them 90º? CW or CCW?

Sites should remain horizontal.

Okay, I'll leave them as they are.

I'm about to finish the first set (first 3 are the hardest to rename). Is there a list of all cards with errata and clarifications? Following such a list is safer than eye-checking cards singularly.

The Decklist Builder has clarifications and errata for all the sets: http://eric.minet.free.fr/tcgbuilder/dbdownl en.htm

I can check the data at the wiki, I wanted a list with just the name and collector's info of the cards that have been modified so I don't have to check each one of them.

Progress - Finished Sets:
00 - Promotional
01 - Fellowship of the Ring
02 - Mines of Moria
03 - Realms of the Elf-lords
04 - The Two Towers
05 - Battle of Helm's Deep
06 - Ents of Fangorn
07 - The Return of the King
08 - Siege of Gondor
09 - Reflections
10 - Mount Doom
11 - Shadows
12 - Black Rider
13 - Bloodlines
14 - Expanded Middle-earth
15 - The Hunters
16 - The Wraith Collection
17 - Rise of Saruman
18 - Treachery & Deceit
19 - Age's End
Done!

I added errata and missing cards on the above sets.

If you download the Decklist Builder you can easily spot the cards that have clarifications/errata(marked with an exclamation mark in the list) and you can view the cards block by block.

Ok, I'm finished. I'll zip the folders and post in a new thread.
