Orcs
« on: December 19, 2012, 08:33:25 AM »
I want to make a deck with Nazgul Culture orcs for expanded, but cant figure how to do it?

Ive looked at a few deck lists from movie and such but, i just dont know, any help? Ive just always wanted to play with Streaming to the field and flung into the fray because i think they are just awesome cards. I dont know if the deck would need nazgul support or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Orcs: Morgul Brute, Morgul Destroyer, Morgul Whelp (4 of each), maybe Morgul Squealer
Other [Wraith] minions: Ulaire Enquea LoM, Ulaire Cantea FtW, Ulaire Lemenya AM, The Witch-king CotNR, Black Rider, Ulaire Otsea SotNR, Bill Ferny SSF - you will find best mix of them after some games
Gollum package: 4x Captured by the Ring, Gollum DaD, maybe Evil-smelling Fens
Flung into the Fray is good, but avoid too many non-minion cards.

Wait is the gollum package a maybe add-on or necessary? Also no Streaming to the fields options?

And thank you good sir!

Gollum package is very useful. It adds threats to fuel Destroyer and Cantea, wounds the ring-bearer to fuel Whelp and make it harder to stop Destroyer's and Brute's ability, can add twilight if you need a little bit more, can soak up archery.

Streaming to the Field could be useful together with Stooping to the Kill. But the main strength of this deck is that it can work with no (or very few) conditions. So it's not afraid of fellowships that are good at discarding conditions. Adding support area cards works a bit against this principle, but I guess sometimes it may work.

Question, why not Morgul King or Black Lord? or is the toil ability the big key?

Also having trouble keeping this deck between 35-38 cards lol

Morgul King: you prefer Cantea or Destroyer to use your threats. And 8 twilight is a lot for one minion in a swarm deck.

Black Lord is a bit better, I've seen people playing 1 Captain and 1 Black Lord or 2+1. But I think Gollum and Orcs do good enough job when it comes to exerting the ring-bearer. Average fellowship will play something like 3-4 companions during the whole game. And most of them early, if you draw Witch-king late he's doing nothing. Black Lord with 3 wounds on the ring-bearer is just a bit bigger than Black Rider but unique and still costs 5. Captain very often costs 0.

I think that you need to use Nertea from Ages End in a deck like this. It is a 4 cost nazgul, so it is easier to spot a nazgul for the morgul orcs. It makes it easier to swarm, and also you can often assign him to the ringbearer allowing you to rack up burdens and wounds.

I'd play Nelya, Third of the Nine Riders over the twilight version (and generally, I'd just not play any [Wraith] deck without it), it also allows you to play Saruman, Servant of Sauron with Isengard Ruined for greater evil. In my morc deck I also played 2 Ithil Stone with 2 Morgul Skulker for card advantage, recycling and a bit more swarming potential (although I played morcs in movie block).

Here is my list quickly modified for expanded: (35)
1 Gollum, Dark as Darkness
4 Captured by the Ring
2 Morgul Skulker
2 Ithil Stone
4 Morgul Brute
4 Morgul Destroyer
4 Morgul Whelp
2 Flung into the Fray
2 The Witch-King, Captain of the Nine Riders
2 Nelya, Third of the Nine Riders
2 Cantea, Faster than Winds
2 Saruman, Servant of Sauron
1 Otsea, Duplicitous Specter
1 Nertea, Dark Horseman
1 Lemenya, Eternally Threatening
1 Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul

If you're going for initiative, why not use the Ulaire Toldea, Wraith on Wings that comes for free.
