Follow-up: the foil on the elven sword is misaligned to the right by about the width of the 1 in the twilight cost (i.e. the foil left edge of the 1 just touches the right edge of the printed 1).  I've looked through my other foils and this is the only one with a noticeable shift.  It's interesting to see, but it does detract from the impact of the foil, so I'm not hoping for any more of them.

I'm having trouble getting a good picture of the error, but I'll post one when/if I get it.

2 Arwens in the same pack!  Back of the envelope calculations say that should happen 0.001875 times per pack opened, or 1/533 packs opened.  However, I have to note that the probability is the same for any chosen uncommon and rare ocuring in the same pack.

Does this take foils into account?  And double foils? (I got one once!)  Also, I hear that the probability of getting a rare foil was less than that of a common.  Was that true?  I have pulled foil promos Legolas, Son of Thranduil and Theoden, Lord of the Mark before and want to know what the chances of doing so were.

No, I ignored the possibility of foils in my calculations.  I've been told that any booster box (sets 1-12, excluding 9) was guaranteed to have at least 1 R, 1 U, and 1 C, but I never saw anything official stating that.

A few scenarios for foils:
1) All foils are equally likely (i.e. when you open a foil, it has equal chances of any card in the set).  My experience does not support this (I've opened far more common foils than rare foils).  It is difficult to tell from the singles market if this is true because value is determined more by demand than supply (Aragorn CoG foil is a common, but because people want him far more than tWoaL foil, he costs more, which is believable even if his supply is greater than tWoaL).
2) The guarantee mentioned above is true, and C are otherwise more likely than U/R; U are more likely than R.  This means that a box with 6 foils (per Decipher's 1 foil/6 packs statement on the packs) could have a 4:1 ratio C to R.  That's much better than the 7:1 ratio for non-foils, and it would mean that rare foils are more common relative to common foils than rares are to commons.
3) The guarantee mentioned above is false, and foils are distributed with the same 7:3:1 C/U/R ratio as normal packs.

Of course, this might be completely wrong and Decipher did something else for the relative probabilities.

I know nothing about double foils outside of set 9.  I have seen foils (incl. foreign foils) in the non-set 9 part of set 9 packs, but since my model for how they constructed set 9 packs was to take whatever they had sitting around and put it into the bin, I can't attempt statistical analysis on those packs.

I'll admit the double foils happened only once to me (Regiment of Haradrim and Sword of Gondor in the same TTT Pack).  Either it was a glitch or I was incredibly lucky!  And I once also pulled 2 Arwens in one pack (though that was a Mount Doom Booster, not RotEL)!

To be honest, though, I'm more interested about the rarity of foil Promos.  I'd have guessed Decipher put them on par with Uncommons (purely based on Boromir, DoMT being reprinted as one in Black Rider), but I'd like to know if anyone knows for sure.

I think I've pulled 2 or 3 P foils, and I think they are all from TTT if that helps at all.

So you can get a premium foil in a booster... interesting.

I think all foil copies of Elven Sword are like that.  I have 4 foil copies and they are all misaligned.  Every foil copy I've ever seen of Aragorn, Captain of Gondor from RotK has also been misaligned.

In the last edition of pack-a-day, I opened an Aragorn CoG foil that is properly aligned.

78:MD
Cirith Ungol Watchman
Shadowplay
Arwen EoL
Gollum MT
Morgul Banner-Bearer
Barren Land
Great Heart
Beaten Back
Houses of Lamentation
Every Little Is a Gain
Under Foot

Another Arwen!

Also, does anyone have experience with the AI rares showing up as foils?  I know that they're floating around the internet, so I'm guessing that they show up in EoF boosters.
