To Bind Them All - Unboxing Videos of all LOTR TCG Products
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:25:09 PM »
Hey,

I'm kind of new on the site, so first of all, hello  :)

I've just started a Youtube channel where I'm going to be blogging my collection of all 19 sets of the LOTR TCG, starting from the very beginning.

My first vid is up, and just features an opening of the Fellowship Deluxe Starter Set, but I'll be opening booster boxes, draft boxes, and everything else until I've got pretty much all of the cards.

Take a look if this sounds interesting - http://youtu.be/02yPWgZbZ0c

Thanks and see you around  ;D

Latest unboxing video is up for anyone that's interested - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgSSXQ6YXFsALrm0yeJ9R9nRvROilMfJH

It's a Fellowship booster box opening and in the final video I go through all my decent pulls.

Some of these will be up for trade in future videos  :)

I don't think you will be able to complete any of the sets through a single booster box, so will you be specifically buying the cards you don't get? Or are going for the more shotgun-approach in just buying more and more boxes until you finish?

Also, I know it's a long ways off, but once you get to set 12 and up, will you also be completing the rare foil and masterworks series for each block set? Those are the real money busters imo.

But anyway, great videos, I'm looking forward to your next ones!

Yeah I know I won't complete them from one box, I think for the movie sets of 365 I'll get 2 booster boxes each and trade/buy the remaining rares. For the sets of 122 I'll get one box and trade/buy the last few that I need. (I've just snagged the Legolas and Boromir Premiums along with others from ROTEL for £0.99 on ebay) I was going to boost the collection with draft packs but I've read a little around them and it really doesn't seem worth it. Weren't they just made for Decipher to get rid of the remaining cards before bringing out new sets?

As for the Rare Foils and Masterworks, I will be trying to get those yes, probably mostly through trades and purchase. I'm more attracted to those that to the early foils, and will likely be trading all of the early foils I pull.

Cheers for the comments and glad you enjoyed :)

The draft packs were produced to support draft play. They are semi-preconstructed so that the card pool will contain enough suitable cards to make for a nice play experience. For collecting purposes you should definitely avoid them.

On a different note, I have TONS of FotR rare cards, so if you need any cards from that set I can trade them to you heavily in your favour ;) See my trade list for WotR cards, too.

The videos are very cool. I wish you all the luck in the world to complete your endeavour. I completed my hunters block MW collection a couple of years ago. It was extremely hard back then, but I can assure you that sooner or later you will complete your set, too. It is just a matter of time and resilience.

P.S.: I gather that you are based in the UK? Since I live in Germany, any cards from trades etc. wouldn't have to travel too long distances ;)

Thanks! Mines of Moria unboxing should be up this weekend :)

Cheers for the draft pack info ununtrium, and for the good wishes with my collection! I'm definitely interested in trading, just after I get one more Fellowship booster box, so I'll have a list up in a few weeks and be in touch!

Mines of Moria Unboxing (sort of) video is up at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIinZfpePdk&feature=youtu.be

Take a look if you're interested, I'll be looking to get the few cards I didn't pull by trade, after I've done a ROTEL unboxing next week  :)

Thanks!  :) For now I'm just collecting, but I do want to start playing sometime. Trouble is as I said in vid 1 none of my friends will play! I've had a few games online but I think to learn properly and get into it I'll have to play for real, so I'll either have to persuade one of my friends or find someone local haha. Do you prefer online or playing with the actual cards?

I have been collecting just like you for 12 years now, and found out about gemp 3 months ago and started playing online (was too young to play back at the day when game was popular) but now i started playing with my younger with actual card and #$&*@! it feels so much better than online, it real shame beacause no one plays anymore in my area and so only option is to play online. But if you can find someone to play with then defenetly play with actual cards. Good luck with upcoming videos :)

Yeah I've had a dabble with Gemp but it's not really grabbing me. I really want to play with this growing collection now haha, I'm sure one day it will happen! Cheers!

Here's a Realms of the Elf Lords booster box opening for anyone that's interested - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov4U04rzSAg and some more additions in the wrap up video (below) :)

Thanks for posting these; I've enjoyed your videos.  I do suggest that, in addition to a trade video, you post a list of cards you're offering and cards you want on the forum.  It's a bit easier to figure out a trade with a written list than trying to remember what was in a video.

Also, if I may, when you get to the point that you're no longer interested in commons, you don't have to mess about with switching the UC and R cards to the back.  You can just open the pack, look at the UCs, then look at the R, and then see if there's a foil/foils behind the rare.

And yes I'll definitely do that from now on, haha how did I not realise that?!

I'm going to see how well trading toes for a while as I save up for Towers Block booster boxes, but should have those soon and will carry on with the hunt!
