Introduction, Looking to Trade in Future!
« on: March 08, 2014, 10:23:03 PM »
Hey everyone, just wanted to at least get on here and talk to some people before I am in the situation to trade. Im hoping to end up with one complete set of every card and use the rest to trade or buy/sell my way to completion. I have thousands of these cards filling two huge tupperware containers, just need to take inventory and then i can start trading. I know last summer i at least got through sorting sets 1-3 but still have a vast amount to get through. The process may be slow, but its been a project in the making for years. SO hopefully I can establish some credit and contacts before I'm able to resume this  come may, and if y'all have any tips for inventory, trading, etc. Im more than welcome to hear.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing the list. (Just recently pulled out my old binders and bins and sorted out my rares as well)

oh i know I have a painful task ahead of me, but imagining the feeling of finally getting it done is worth it. started collecting cards since they first came out, kind of fell off near the end, but picked up that Ages end and some of those latter sets.

any advice for inventory, how to record what you have and stuff? i still have written records and used lists i printed off online. felt it was easier to write than type, but now thinking making an excel or something would be more useful

What ive done is put all the rares in binders. 1 binder for fellowship cards, the other for shadow. Then I break down those binders into sections by race. So Dwarves rares first, elves second, etc. Now i havent done this bit yet but in those race sections Im was going to order them by set and number. I may start doing that tomorrow actually. As for the uncommons and commons, i just group them by race and put them in their own box.

agh what I've started to do in preparation of finishing this hobby is to have binders for each block (1-3,4-6, etc) and just start at 1R1 and just go up numerically by set. Im in a tricky spot with foils as of course I've kept the non dupe foils, but as a collector I don't feel an absolute need for them, and if they could help complete my collection rather than holding onto them and not completing, Id deff trade them off.

For trading purposes I'd start taking foils, promos and The Hunters block rares (and even better commons and uncommons) into inventory as they are generally in higher demand and have higher value.
