I threw down 5, just to fill in the slots, though I
probably won't pick from Siege of Gondor or
Mount Doom. However, should I get something in the non-choice boosters that chooses me to pick from Siege or Doom, I would probably do so, even over FotR.
FotR: I feel like everyone likes to at least attempt to dig for
Greenleaf or
Aragorn's Bow. There are also a decent number of normally X-listed cards that you can try to get...the downside is the vast number of useless rares, so trying to get X-listed cards comes at a cost. I generally snag around 2 or 3 of these from the total 8 choices.
Isildur's Bane is huge for this league, so I try to give myself a chance for that as well. Also for non-rares, I would really like to pull a
Saruman's Power this time around. So many of the Fellowships end up relying on strong conditions, and having the ability to nix those could be huge.
RotEL: I'm going to invest a little in this for a shot at great rares like Elrond,
HttWC or
Keeper of Isengard...but since I'm probably going to try for Uruk Shadow this time around, pulling Ravagers would be really nice in conjunction with the Sarumans provided in the starters.
TT: Could be one of the safest choices. All around decent shadow cards, and nice splash companions like the common Legolas and Gimli.
ADDED: Almost forgot to mention
Son of Hamfast for picking FotR. If you aren't going Gandalf starter from the beginning, the Sam that you want will probably be this one. He lets you big higher to go first, which can sometimes mess up the synergy of the Gandalf starter, which often want to go first.
