Eye of Barad-dur
« on: November 20, 2014, 09:04:03 PM »
Since I like trying to come up with unorthodox methods of winning, or just trolling your opponent, this card caught my eye.  LOL

What I was hoping is that you can use the card whenever your hand is revealed to the FP player...but it seems that the text of the card differentiates on who is doing the revealing, correct?

If it could be discarded at any point you reveal your cards to the FP player, then you could just have fun playing this with Slippery as Fishes to fill them with burdens quite easily...

Thoughts? Since I don't think it works with Slippery as Fishes, are there any other ideas to abuse Eye of Barad-dur? Such as situations where it's necessary or almost always done that the FP player reveals the shadow's hand?

Maybe there's a shadow card that is something along the lines of: Does X, which is very strong, then the FP player may reveal shadow player's hand and discard Y...

First fo all, this is more a rules question for the rules forum.

Second: the card very clearly specifies that the FREE PEOPLES player has to reveal it. So if you as shadow player do, nothing happens.

Skirmish: Make a companion or ally skirmishing a [Sauron] Orc strength -1 for each ring-bound companion. Response: If a free people player reveals this card from your hand, discard this card to add 2 burdens.

Yeah, what he said ^. But, my question is, is there a way to have it in your hand as the FP player, and take advantage of it that way? Say you have a card that says to reveal your hand, in which Eye of Barad-dur is revealed, and you add burdens that way....say if you have The Shire Countryside in play and are trying to get burdens.
If we're gonna play games, I'm gonna need a cup of coffee.

I'm pretty sure that if you are the FP player, the Eye of Barad-dur in your hand is not active and can't be used. See bottom of page 2 under "active": http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/_media/crd_2003_1202.pdf

If you read my post, you'd see this does not belong in the rules discussion...I'm trying to open up discussion on ways to use the Eye of Barad-dur in a sneaky way in decks. Thus card and play strategy.
