Discard helping minions
« on: November 15, 2015, 09:37:52 AM »
After playing two MTG Battle for Zendikar drafts, encountering as well as using the devoid keyword, I was wondering why the [Orc] culture doesn't have discarding. Sauron used to have to and it's the only mechanic next to site control this culture is lacking.

So here are my thoughts to rectify that. Hope I got the wording right ;)

[Orc] (14) *The Balrog, Awakened
Minion * Balrog
Strength 17
Vitality 5
Site 5
Damage +1. Fierce.
To play, discard two [Orc] minions.
Each time a companion is killed, choose one opponent who
must discard the bottom three cards of his or her draw deck
(four if that companions base strength was 5 or lower).

I chose the bottom as discarding from the top can help the FP player too much at times. Also, [Orc] Balrog.

[Orc] (10) *Cave Troll of Moria, Underdeeps Beast
Minion * Troll
Strength 15
Vitality 4
Site 4
To play, spot an [Orc] minion and a [Orc] card in your support area.
Cave Troll of Moria's twilight cost is -1 for every 3 cards in
an opponents discard pile.

A lower number would have been too OP. But are the twilight cost justified? He can come for free mid to late game. And every site with Goblin Hordes.

[Orc] (3) *Moria Crusher
Minion * Orc
Strength 7
Vitality 2
Site 4
When you play this minion, choose a Free Peoples player who must discard
the top card of his or her draw deck.

Think this one is okay.

Thoughts, suggestions, further ideas to fuel this endeavour?
