It's going to be ghoulish reviewing these since they aren't easily-quotable, but I randomly took a deeper read on Celeborn and I'm going to skip a bunch of stuff in the middle and show you my suggested rewrite of the card with a brief explanation following.
•Celeborn, Prince of Doriath Ally • Home 6 • Elf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
To play, spot 3 Elves.
Each time you play an
tale, you may exert Celeborn to make a companion strength +1 until the regroup phase.
I've tightly-muzzled him, I know. No healing effect, he needs 3 Elves, and the +1 now requires an exert.
That's sort of where I think Allies as a card type are headed (and Elf allies in particular). For a minor additional Pro for using him, this would also be a good spot for
muster.
From here I'm just gonna start dotting some reviews in.
Gandalf, SoV
I find Gandalf's discount effect to be intriguing. I could see something like this appearing on other close-to-Frodo character cards.
Whip of Many Thongs, FotFA
7 line limit on a card.
Become Terribly Clear
Compare to
Their Eyes Fell On Him, a in-process card that's been through a few rounds of discussion.
Some Evil Work
Sweet! I'd suggest we find another picture since
A Shadow Rises is already out there, but A+ card concept that I'd vote to pass right along to playtesting.
Bilbo, Son of Bungo
What a delicious subtitle that is.
This card is incredibly interesting to me. He's got Young Bilbo's stats, a Shire-heavy subtitle, and a Shire-building effect. To me (especially with the chosen image), this version of Bilbo should have
something to do with the Ring.
What do you think of something like this:
"To play, add a burden.
Response: If a
companion wins a skirmish, exert Bilbo twice to play a
condition from your draw deck."
