Frodo Fight / Wargs
« on: November 12, 2020, 04:12:18 AM »
Yep! Another Hunters Block deck!

Ring-bearer: Frodo, Weary From the Journey
Ring: The One Ring, The Ring of Doom

Adventure deck:
Anduin River
Steward's Tomb
Isengard Ruined
City Gates
Mithlond
Mount Doom
Imladris
Falls of Rauros
Sirannon Ruins

Free Peoples Draw Deck (30):
1x Éomer, Horsemaster (starting)
1x Éowyn, Northwoman (starting)
1x Aragorn, Defender of Rohan
1x Gamling, The Old
2x Rohirrim Warrior
1x Theoden, Northman, King of Rohan
1x Warrior of Rohan
1x Eomer's Spear, Trusty Weapon
3x Rohirrim Axe
2x Hobbit Sword
3x Last Days of My House
4x Where Now The Horse
1x Second Breakfast
2x The Faithful Stone
2x Into the Caves
2x Prized Lagan
1x Rohan Stable Master
1x Hobbiton Brewer, Maker of Fine Ales

Shadow Draw Deck (30):
3x Orkish Flanker
3x Orkish Runner
2x Orkish Traveler
3x Orkish Warg-master
4x Scouting Orc
3x Veteran War Chief
4x Relentless Warg
4x Vicious Warg
1x Feral Ride
2x Unreasonable Choice
1x Saruman, Servant of Sauron

Hunters Block sites to make a "pur" Hunters Block deck.

FP side: Frodo needs to fight almost each site to use the abilities of many companions. Eowyn or Into the Caves help against Uruk Hunters (lose Fierce + Hunter keywords). There are 4 skirmish events for Frodo+Sting+2 followers to help him.

Shadow side: Updated Shadow side of this thread. https://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php?topic=11841.0

Nice deck - I really like the Northmen theme and the benefits that arise by the "dangerous game" of assigning the ringbearer to skirmish as much as possible.
Do you intend to start with Horsemaster? I would rather use Eomer Northman instead and start with Eowyn and Gamling.
To increase flexibility in pushing Frodo in skirmishes you could think of adding 1 or 2 Gamling's Horn. For this, you could also include a Robin Smallburrow and maybe a Rohan Worker and remove Into the Caves since its effect is redundant to Eowyn's. And what about Throne of the Golden Hall? It is always very helpful...

The shadow side looks really solid...

Thanks for these very good advices.

I try to make a Hunters Block version of my Frodo Fight fellowship in Standard, which is based on Eomer, ST (and taking back again and again Where Now The Horse) and discarding a lot of companions:

1x Éomer, Skilled Tactician (starting)
1x Éowyn, Northwoman (starting)
1x Aragorn, Defender of Rohan
1x Erkenbrand, Master of Westfold
1x Gamling, Defender of the Hornburg
1x Haethen, Veteran Fighter
1x Hama, Captain of the King's Guard
1x Hrothlac, Man of Rohan
1x Leofric, Defender of the Mark
4x Riddermark Soldier
1x Rohirrim Army
2x Rohirrim Warrior
1x Théoden, Tall and Proud
1x Leowyn
1x Erkenbrand's Horn
1x Erkenbrand's Shield
1x Phial of Galadriel, Star-glass
3x Throne of the Golden Hall
1x Mithril-coat, Dwarf-mail
4x Where Now The Horse
2x Into the Caves
1x Pallando, Far-travelling One

Play Riddermark Soldier, tank many wounds with Throne of the Golden Hall then discard him with WNTH.

Back to the Hunters version, I forgot the starting :/. You're right Eomer and Eowyn.

This fellowship needs to set up before Frodo can fight easily, I need a big fighter for region 1 against [Uruk] Hunters or [Orc] Wargs. But I agree with you, Gamling could be enough. I don't know about Eomer, Northman; the defender+1 ability is great, especially with Rohan Stable Master.

I want to make a minion against Frodo lose all keywords at each site (Hunters, Fierce, Damage+1), and it's not possible with only Eowyn (too much exertions and no easy healing).

I try to make a 30 FP side, Gamling's Horn was my 31st card :P. It's very good against Saruman SoS.

I tested Throne of the Golden Hall but it's not as good as in the Standard version where companions can be fully exhausted then discarded.

I played an IRL game with the first decklist in an IRL game ^^ one hour ago. My opponent (my wife) played a 3 Hunters+Faramir / [Uruk] Hunters deck.

Wargs are very good now but Rohan seems a bit weak against the [Uruk] Hunters.
I drew my first Hobbit sword only during the region 3 with very few cards left in the deck...
In order to discard Saruman SoS, Gamling's Horn seems to be a must have against this Shadow.
I still think Horsemaster is better than Eomer Northman, Frodo doesn't skirmish everytime and there is a need of big skirmishers.
After many skirmishes where I had to put the Ring, Frodo had a lot of burdens. I don't know if Hobbiton Brewer is a good idea then.
Eowyn can't use her ability so many times, Into the Caves helps me a lot.

So maybe:
-1 Hobbiton Brewer
+1 Gamling's Horn

1.) Regarding your standard deck: This is a really nice idea around Eomer, Skilled Tactican.

2.) Ok, I understand that you need some strong fighter from the beginning. Then Horsemaster makes more sense.
If Frodo has troubles with burdens, it could be an option to include more followers to be more effective with Gamling's Horn.
Or you could think of including Golden Perch Ale. Then you are able to remove some of the burdens, if Frodo wins.

For completeness, here is my standard version of the Northmen:

Ring-bearer: Frodo, Weary from the Journey
Ring: The One Ring, Such a Weight to Carry

1x Eowyn, Northwoman (starting)
1x Gamling, the Old (starting)
1x Eomer, Northman
1x Theoden, Northman, King of Rohan
1x Aragorn, Defender of Rohan
1x Radagast, the Brown
2x Hobbit Sword
2x Rider's Spear
1x Eomer's Spear, Trusty Weapon
1x Herugrim, Sword of the Mark
1x Anduril, Sword that was broken
2x Gamling's Horn
1x Pallando, Far-Travelling One
3x Rohan Stable Master
1x The Tale of the Great Ring
1x Golden Perch Ale
1x Throne of the Golden Hall
1x Freely across our Land
1x Dispatched with Haste
2x Last Days of my House
1x Grim Trophy
1x Ride with me
2x Brilliant Light
3x Where now the Horse

Nice standard deck too!
Golden Perch Ale is a good idea, but how many burdens do you remove with this possession? I want to know if the card is really effective.
I will test with Gamling in starting (better if I play his Horn) and Eomer, Northman in the deck.

Hm... that is a good question. Of course it matters a lot, whether you draw it early or late...
Some thoughts for a rough estimation: If you include only one copy of Golden Perch Ale and Frodo can be considered to win several skirmishes in a game (because he is assigned to skirmishes often and he is strong), I would estimate that you can remove 2 burdens per game in average.
