Can't connect to GCCG to play LotR

1) I'm not sure how to tell what operating system I'm using. Do you mean my computer?
2) I get the error message right after I click on the install program and at the same time that the program itself shows up.
I tried to just cancel the error and continue downloading but it wouldn't let me go on from there.

What I mean is, I presume you are using Windows? Which one? XP, Vista, 7...?
Also, it would be best if you could give more detail on what you are clicking on exactly. When you say, "install program," which one is that? GCCG is a .zip file and does not have an installer. Are you talking about the program that says, "Install LotR.bat" or...?

My operating system is Window's XP '64 edition.

ok, here's what I did:
It wouldn't let me go to the website that you reffered to as how to download it so I went to the Gccg home page. from there I went to the download options place and it told me to run the program and unpack the files onto my harddrive. i ran the program and i unpacked the files to a flash drive(1GB). From that point I saw only 3 Lord of the Rings installation programs. one looked like this

Install
windows batch file
8KB

the other like this:
Install LOTR cards
windows batch file
1KB

and the last one looked like this:
Install LOTR
windows batch file
1KB

there were also several other installation programs that said things like METW and pokemon, Pokemon cards, Install MTG cards stuff like that. There was also one that said Update Everything.
I Clicked on the one that said Install and a old-looking screen with a black backround and white lettering came up but on top of that screen was the warning. anytime I tried to do something on the black screen the warning did not permit it. And when I exited out of the warning, I couldn't do anything on the black screen.

Hopefully that's a bit better than my other failed attempt.

Okay,
I figured out how to run the program. The reason it wouldn't run before was because it was designed for an older computer. All I had to do was use my Computer's wizard program and it made it compatible with my current operating system.
Thanks for your help Kralik. And yes, you actually did help me a lot.

Ah, that is much more descriptive. I don't run a 64-bit OS, but I've heard that XP64 has some problems with running 32-bit programs. I searched around the internet and I found a couple of the files in a 64-bit version for you to try. If that fails, I have a plan B.

Step 1) Since you are running from a flash drive, create a directory called "home" in the GCCG folder. This makes GCCG save its settings on the flash drive and creates a portable installation.
Step 2) Download the 64-bit version of perl (used in the installer) from here.
Step 3) Extract perl.zip to the GCCG folder and overwrite the 32-bit files.
Step 4) Run "Install LotR.bat" again and cross your fingers!

If this doesn't work, I have another idea that will should!

EDIT: Just spent 20 minutes typing this only to find that you figured out another way. You should still create the home directory if you want it to be portable, though.

Sorry that you spent so much time, but I may still have to use it so let's hope that it wasn't in vain.

Do you mean that I should make a file folder called home? Plus, how do I overwrite the 32-bit files?
Even when I got it to work I ran into some problems on the home page of Gccg.
For one, the box itself would not let me downsize so the screen takes up more than it should and I can't see what I'm typing.
But more importantly, when I try to make an account and I type it in it tells me to exit out and run the program again, but when I do that I can't log on or anything and when I try the same thing it always  comes out with the same result.

I will try your way and see if it comes out with better results. Sorry to keep bothering you like this but since my brothers not here we don't have a computer wiz around the house anymore.

I tried downloading perl but all it gave me was a black screen. Let's hear the other idea just in case your answers to the questions above do not help.

Well, I removed the perl download link since you said you already had it working.
If you can start GCCG, then we should be able to figure it out. Did the installation/downloads work? How about you PM me and we can work from there?
