Easterling Wounding (Shadow only)
« on: April 03, 2010, 03:06:49 PM »
Here's a deck I made recently. I am unfamiliar with the Beasterling and Captain Crunch decktypes, but I would guess that this is similar.

Easterling Captain x2
Desert Lord x2
Easterling Footman x2
Easterling Berserker x2
Easterling Skirmisher x3
Easterling Lieutenant x4
Easterling Infantry x2

Morgul Creeper x4

Vision From Afar x2
Red Wrath x3

Easterling Polearm x4
Raider Bow x4

There a few obvious problems, and this deck can't do much early on. 2-3 burdens are what you're shooting for, and sometimes that takes several sites. But after that, you can just sit back and make every Raider Bow count.

The four cards I would always maximize are the Easterling Captain, Easterling Polearm, Raider Bow, and Small Hope. Personally I like builds that cruise along at 2 burdens, so I'd drop the Berserker (lack of fierce is another negative), Infantry, Lieutenant (though he's a fine burden-adding minion), Skirmisher, Morgul Creeper, and Vision From Afar.

Then I'd fill the other minion slots with these:

Easterling Army (3-4) - heavy hitter, pumps
Easterling Axeman - cheap, extends skirmish reach... though some might skip him entirely
Easterling Footman
Easterling Regiment - feeds the Captain
Easterling Pillager
Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul

I think 15 minions would be the minimum... 21 seems high. With the room that's left (probably 34 for the ceiling) I'd look into these other supporting cards:

Bold Men and Grim - not a must-have, but pure evil if it goes off
Discovered - condition removal
Red Wrath
Ships of Great Draught - grabs back cards

Easterling Wounding, that's pretty original. If you wanna keep doing that and not go the Beasterlings route, maybe you could add some War Towers and then Morgul Ambusher would make it even more fun.

@ES- I wanted to build this deck using cards I already have, so I can't quite make the changes you suggest. Most importantly, I don't have any more copies of Footman or Small Hope, so I have to include other methods in order to get burdens.
I'll try to put Discovered in, but the main problem with this deck is just how combo- oriented it is. I had thought about Ships of Great Draught, but it doesn't seem entirely efficient. If I add War Towers like Cw0rk says, it would make things easier, but it still wouldn't help that much.
I'll keep playtesting to see what I can do.
