Evil Men Possession Stacking Swarm
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:12:48 AM »
Grah, this deck is huge atm, help me decide which cards to remove! Need to cut 22 cards or so for it to become manageable. #-o

SHADOW ONLY: TOO MANY CARDS
Easterling Dispatcher x3 – Twilight adding
Last Days –More skirmishes!
Mouth of Sauron, Messenger of Mordor x4 – Play key conditions and possessions.
Overrun x3 – Strength pump
Rampaging Easterling x3 – Launch swarm, this guy will then be +Massive strength since he's a lurker.
Crazed Hillman x3—Another guy that can get huge strength
Stampeding Chief x2 -- Damage +1 and fierce, huge strength. Use Shepherd to play.
Stampeding Shepherd x2 -- Play Chief for cheaper. Saves 4 twilight vs. playing Chief from hand.
Saruman, Coldly Still x4 -- More strength for possessions, plays possessions
Pavise x2 -- For Mouth, Saruman, GATS, and Sunland Guard
Grima's Dagger -- Cancel Skirmish events.
Great Axe -- bonuses against Thorongil, etc.
Poleaxe -- Make a minion fierce
Primitive Brand x3 -- Helps possession stacks
Wildman's Oath x4 -- Discard for strength if need be. Key support area possession.
Ceremonial Armor x2 -- Prevent wounds. Key support area possession.
Countless Companies x2 -- Stack Possessions here to replay them later.
Sunland Skirmisher x2
Sunland Guard x2
Sunland Scout
Sunland Warrior x3
Vengeful Savage x2
Voice of the Desert, Southron Troop x2 -- Great support, can make all your men an archer or fierce which helps the swarm.

Other cards to consider for more fierce skirmishes:
Frenzied Dunlending
Brutal Easterling
Throne of Isengard--could make Saruman a default 11 strength, extra damage minion playable from the possessions via Pandemonium and Vengeful Savage.

Hmm...it seems like you're trying to include every good [men] card. Try to focus more on a single strategy. You say you're going for swarm? Just what minions do you want your swarm to include (limit yourself), and how are you going to get all of them in play?

Are you trying to use Sunland Skirmisher, Sunland Guard, and Pandemonium to play extra minions from Wildman's Oath and Ceremonial Armor? Then focus on those cards first. Primitive Brand and maybe Vengeful Savage (although he's a bit expensive for swarm) can help put the minions on the possessions. Now, what other minions are you going to use, and how are you going to get the twilight to play enough minions for a swarm?

Thanks for your responses guys!  :gp:

I suppose Pursuing Horde  and Easterling Dispatcher will help with twilight, I do generally want to avoid archery cards though, so MuadDib, thanks for the link--I'll probably make that deck to try it out, but that deck isn't quiiiiteee what I'm aiming for due to the Corsairs not really working off the (New Evil Men) culture.

I do want Mumak Commander GATS, Mouth of Sauron, Messenger of Mordor and Saruman Coldly Still at its heart, but also want to work in the Stampeding Chiefs since I think extra damage huge minions would help immensely. So I'm wondering if someone could help with that? :S

PST. How do we put in the symbols for the LOTR cultures, like the black skull for New Evil Men? XD

Yeah, I can see why you'd like those powerful cards, but just keep in mind that the goal isn't to have powerful cards; the goal is to have cards that make the deck do what it's supposed to do. So focus on the swarm first and then add extra, powerful cards as room allows and as needed to shore up the deck's weak spots (for example, if exertion-based FP abilities are likely to hurt you, add GATS; if you think you'll have trouble getting your possessions out, add MoS).

PST. How do we put in the symbols for the LOTR cultures, like the black skull for New Evil Men? XD
Type the name of the culture in brackets, for example, ![men] (without the exclamation point) = [men].

So there's nothing to stop For the Mark and other possession discarding stuff against Wildman's Oath, Ceremonial Armor, etc right?

Nope. The only Shadow card that can prevent possessions from being discarded is Entranced Uruk, which doesn't work with your possessions. The best you can do is use Countless Companies to save the possessions themselves; there's nothing you can do for the stacked cards.

Ew, so stacking men on possessions is ultimately a very weak strategy. :(

Eh, just play a lot of possessions and spread the minions out (say, no more than one per possession); other than Dispatched with Haste (and maybe Hama, CotKG), they probably won't be able to discard enough to really ruin you.

EDIT: Exception: Against Dwarves without [Gandalf], [Gondor], or [Rohan] splashes, you might actually want to put many minions on the same possession, because [Dwarven] possession discard (Blood Runs Chill, That's Two) isn't directed.

Thanks for the heads up! Will post the updated deck soon. It's at 40 cards, I plan to run it with a muster fellowship, not sure if I should use Theoden + Gandalf though (for Gandalf's Staff, Ash-Staff, and Theoden, Lord of Eorlingas)....what fellowship do you think has the best muster?
