Boromir, Possibly OP?
« on: June 05, 2020, 03:45:06 PM »
So does playing Armor on Boromir, Bearer of Council let him take just 1 wound as a penalty and no more for the rest of the skirmish? Am I reading the rules right? I'm not aware what Gemp does but that does not change anything.

Oh wait, you have to add 3 burdens since you can't pay the cost. Leaving this thread up for future players.

You solved your own question. You would have to pay the three burden cost if Boromir was the Ring-Bearer. It's a dangerous game.

Interesting. So having Armor on him almost becomes a disadvantage.

You are almost giving your ring-bearer an instant corruption clause if you put Armor on Boromir. Footman's Armor or Coat of Mail are better options if you need to throw something on him in Movie Block.

Honestly, all the alternate RB seem to stink. I mean, sure they're strong, but it doesn't matter if they're going to kill themselves. BoC could be strength 45, but it can still only skirmish like 4 times.

The benefit to most of then is that they enable full mono decks that can use the same cards for the RB as are used for the main fellowship. A [Gondor] knight deck packing Isildur doesn't have to include 4-5 random hobbit cards for an emergency Frodo save.

Really tho they're hampered somewhat by the fact that the game is about protecting a vulnerable RB, and decipher was unwilling to make them physically weak, so they had to take a different path to vulnerability.
