Okay, well I've gone for a very different approach on the Blade of Gondor and conceded on the eventness of Boromir's Cloak.

What do you think now?

Much better. Love the new versions.

[1]Blade of Gondor (V) [Gondor]
Possession • Hand Weapon
Str: +2
Bearer must be a [Gondor] Man.
Bearer is damage +1.
If bearer is Boromir, each time he wins a skirmish you may heal a fellowship or [Gondor] companion with resistance 5 or more.
1 V 95

Sound though its odd for a sword to have this ability.

[1]Shield of Boromir (V) [Gondor]
Possession • Shield
Str: +1
Res: +1
Bearer must be a [Gondor] Man.
If bearer is Boromir, he is defender +1.
2 V 38

Cut the strength bonus i believe would make it more balanced.

(0)Horn of Boromir (V) [Gondor]
Possession
Bearer must be Boromir.
While Boromir bears a follower, he is strength +2.
At the start of each skirmish involving Boromir, you may exert him to play a [Gondor] skirmish event from your discard pile.
"On a baldric he wore a great horn tippled with silver…
3 V 42

Wow good for free but i like it.

(0)Boromir's Cloak (V) [Gondor]
Possession • Cloak
Bearer must be Boromir.
Response: If Boromir is about to take a wound in a skirmish, add a burden or discard this possession to prevent that wound.
"He was cloaked and booted as if for a journey on horseback; and indeed though his garments were rich, and his cloak was lined with fur, they were stained with long travel."
1 V 98

Like less useful bracers, fair enough.

Actually, when you really get down and think about it, Thranduil captured the essence of the Blade of Gondor almost perfectly. Boromir came to the rescue of the Hobbits, using his sword to save their lives. Translation: healing a companion.

Nah ah. Preventing a wounding. The hobbits didnt get wounded and boromir stabbed them with his blade and healed them miraculously. He stopped the uruk from swinging his sword at them. It was all about not letting the wounds get there in the first place. So in fact he missed the point entirely menace and so did you doubly so!  :hey:

Thanks for that lem0n...

I've made the Shield's strength bonus conditional, so you can let me know what you think.

Now for some miscellaneous [Gondor] events:

[1] Coat of Mail (V) [Gondor]
Event • Response
If a [Gondor] companion is about to take a wound, prevent that wound.
At the start of the regroup phase, you may discard a card from hand to take this event into hand from your discard pile.
1 V 101

EDIT: Changed from Armor (V) in the hope of doing something more exciting with the other!

[1] Athelas (V) [Gondor]
Event • Fellowship
Spot a ranger that is not exhausted to heal a companion or remove a threat.
Each time the fellowship moves, you may add [2] to place this event on top of your draw deck from your discard pile.
"'The hands of the king are the hands of a healer, and so shall the true king be known.'"
1 V 94

[1] Foes of Mordor (V) [Gondor]
Event • Skirmish
Exert a [Gondor] Man to make that Man strength +X where X is the site number of a minion he or she is skirmishing.
1 V 105

(0) Gondor's Vengeance (V) [Gondor]
Event • Maneuver
Spot 2 [Gondor] Men to exert a minion (or wound a minion with a damage bonus).
1 V 106

The last one is part of a mostly unintentional cycle which is formed by Lightfootedness (V) and Golden Light on the Land (V) which you can see much earlier on in this thread.

Thanks for that lem0n...

No problem my friend!  ;)

[1] Armor (V) [Gondor]
Event • Response
If a [Gondor] companion is about to take a wound, prevent that wound.
At the start of the regroup phase, you may heal a minion to take this event into hand from your discard pile.
"Then Elendil the Tall and his mighty sons, Isildur and Anárion, became great lords; and the North-realm they made in Arnor and the South-realm in Gondor…
1 V 92

Ok. Obviously not as useful as the original but ok.

1 V 94

Sound.

[1] Foes of Mordor (V) [Gondor]
Event • Maneuver
Spot a [Gondor] Man to wound a minion X times, where X is that minion's site number minus the current site number. Then you may exert that Man to wound that minion.
1 V 105

Dont really like it, its too messy and risky to waste deck space on.

(0) Gondor's Vengeance (V) [Gondor]
Event • Maneuver
Spot 3 [Gondor] Men to exert a minion (or exert each minion with a damage bonus).
1 V 106

The brackets are way too powerful, id love this card in any [Gondor] deck!

Wow, so how many people actually ever used Armor in a deck?

What about Lightfootedness and Golden Light on the Land?

Armor was a staple card in fellowship block. Give it boromir log and he takes the balrog twice. It was how you survived site 5 dude! Dont you remember. But its a really cool armor anyway, screws uruk hai.

Well Golden light is ok, lightfootedness is a bit excessive as is this one. Fierce and damage +1 can be on most races whereas golden light is orc specific so its a risk to put in in the deck. You can still get fierce and d+1 orcs so those 2 are more geenric nukes which is why i think theyre too good.

I thought that they were all about equal because Orcs appear in 4 different Shadow cultures extensively. But it seems that that would be too powerful! So I'll change 'em.

Is it just me, or does the flavour text on Armor look like someone mistook the 'm' in the title for an 'n'?

Okay, what do we think of the cycle now? I've changed all 3 of those cards.

EDIT: And also changed Armor (V) into Coat of Mail (V) and modified the card slightly.

Only note I'll make on the former, improved batch is that I think Boromir's Cloak (V) should have a resistance +1 bonus. Gives it a little more oomph.

1 V 101

Still not a fan of turning all these possessions into events, but I think that's a losing battle. Balanced enough.

1 V 94

Surprised no one has had a beef with the threat removal. Gondor is one of several cultures that adds a lot of threats and, in my opinion, shouldn't have such an easy way of removing them. That being said, I think it IS balanced.

Quote from: Thranduil
[1] Foes of Mordor (V) [Gondor]
Event • Maneuver
Spot a [Gondor] Man to wound a minion X times, where X is that minion's site number minus the current site number. Then you may exert that Man to wound that minion.
1 V 105

Yeah, I'm with lem0n here. Just too frickin' complicated. As an event, I think it would be okay to simply do something like:

"Spot a [Gondor] Man to exert a minion (or wound that minion if it is roaming)."

Quote from: Thranduil
(0) Gondor's Vengeance (V) [Gondor]
Event • Maneuver
Spot 3 [Gondor] Men to exert a minion (or wound a minion with a damage bonus).
1 V 106

Hmmm, kinda makes the one I posted above kinda OP, don't it? :P Regardless, I think this is drastically underpowered. I think spotting just 2 would be fine...for all of them.
Best regards,
Dáin
